Instant carpools coming to the Pacific Northwest.

We’re happy to announce the arrival of “instant carpools” to the Pacific Northwest with the first launch in select areas in Redmond on November 2nd. The Redmond launch will soon be followed by additional areas in Bellevue and Seattle.

Since the service became available in May, we’ve been building a community of drivers and riders and working towards meeting a threshold. Meeting a threshold of riders and drivers in the system increases the chances of carpool matching. The app has now met the threshold in several areas in Redmond, Bellevue and Seattle and we are moving forward with a staged launch in those areas.

We are inviting people working in and around the areas listed below, to try out “instant carpooling”. Unlike a conventional carpool, iCarpool has no fixed groups of carpoolers nor is there a schedule associated with the carpool. The app connects riders with verified drivers going the same way at the same time so riders can carpool to their destination. There’s no long term commitment – each carpool is for a single trip. We are offering $25 ride credits to try out the app via the promo code ICARPOOL25. The service is priced at $0.26 per mile which means riders can take trips that total 96.15 miles in the system using $25 ride credits.
